WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Labor is proposing a new rule that would require federal contractors and subcontractors to set a hiring goal of having 7 percent of their workforces be people with disabilities, among other requirements. The department's Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs invites public comment on this proposal, which will be published in the Dec. 9 edition of the Federal Register.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Joyce A. Bender has been elected to the Board of Trustees of Carlow University, in Pittsburgh, PA. Her 3-year term will commence on February 1, 2006. Joyce will serve on the institution's Student Affairs Committee, chaired by Sister Judith Worden. "I thank Joyce most sincerely for her willingness to serve Carlow University as a Trustee. Bender will be the recipient of United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of Pittsburgh's Gertude Labowitz Lifetime Achievement Award, at the 13th Annual Community Heroes Awards Dinner, at the Westin Convention Center Hotel in Pittsburgh on October 5, 2005. The Gertrude Labowitz Lifetime Achievement Award is given each year to an individual or organization in recognition of their outstanding record of enhancing the quality of life for people with disabilities.

PITTSBURGH, PA (June 27, 2005)- Joyce A. Bender has been recently appointed, along with 5 other prominent members of the business community, to serve on the Board of Directors of the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD). Her 3-year term will commence on July 1, 2005 along with the other board members. The AAPD, the country's largest cross-disability membership organization, promotes the economic and political empowerment of all 56 million children and adults with disabilities in the U.S.

A premier federal intelligence agency is partnering with Bender Consulting Services, Inc. to assist them in recruiting Americans with disabilities to work in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, and Language areas.

Bender Consulting Services, Inc. has been retained as the source for recruiting and screening candidates with disabilities and referring them to the federal agency.

(Bender Consulting ) recently placed 2nd for the Paralyzed Veterans Association's (PVA) 4th Grand National Championship (GNC) held on St. John's River in Sanford, Seminole County, FL (Orlando) January 14-16, 2005. His prize was $2,500.00.
