BCS and BCSC Interviewing/Hiring Process

Bender Consulting Services, Inc. (BCS) and Bender Consulting Services of Canada, Inc. (BCSC) are in partnership with our customer(s); therefore, our interview process is designed to ensure that we identify the appropriate qualified candidate, for not only our customers, but for the Bender Family of Companies, as well. Therefore, BCS/BCSC is committed to a comprehensive interview/screening process. The timeframe to complete this process varies, depending on the career opportunities available, compared to the candidate's background, interests, and geographic preferences. The typical events that can be expected to occur during our interview process follow:

  • Upon receipt of a resume, a questionnaire is sent to the potential candidate to be completed and returned. When evaluated for completeness, if it is found that a questionnaire is not completed entirely, it is returned to the candidate so that the form may be completed accurately. Particular attention should be paid to the employment section. Previous employment must be reflected in the employment section of the questionnaire, with dates of employment and reason(s) for leaving a position, identified for each previous job.
  • After receipt of a completed questionnaire, candidates whose skills/background match BCS target positions are interviewed in-person, or via telephone or Instant Messenger.
  • Multiple interviews are conducted by our human resources staff and technical managers. At least one of these will be in-person.
  • Prior to completion of the process, BCS/BCSC conducts thorough criminal background and reference checks, as well as drug screens. The candidate will be contacted to provide the necessary information for this, as appropriate.
  • Upon successful completion of the interviewing/screening process. If we have found a potential match, the candidate is contacted by our team for permission to submit their resume to the customer(s) for evaluation and consideration.
  • Both BCS/BCSC and the candidate wait for our customer to decide to interview candidates presented by BCS/BCSC for positions. BCS/BCSC coordinates the interview process with our customer. It could be either in-person or via the telephone or Instant Messenger.
  • Our customer makes the final decision regarding selection of candidates for the BCS/BCSC/Customer partnership.
  • If the customer decides, after a successful interview, the candidate meets their requirements, they will specify the term and establish a starting date, all conducted through BCS/BCSC.
  • At this point, an explicit offer of employment with BCS or BCSC would be made, via the telephone, and upon acceptance, would be followed up with an offer letter, which would identify all of the employment details.
  • Prior to a new employee starting at a customer site, arrangements are made for mandatory BCS/BCSC orientation/training.
  • If a resume is received from a candidate for which there is not an immediate opening, we will continue to look at every opportunity with our customer(s) until a match is found that meets the needs of the customer and candidate alike. We keep an active database of in process candidates. Therefore, resumes that fall into this category are maintained and reviewed on a frequent basis. It is important to realize that opportunities are not always quickly available. Many times, the process can take as long as several months. That is why it is important that we maintain contact with all candidates whom we have not found openings for. During this time we encourage all candidates to stay in contact with us concerning the status of additional training and or certifications. By letting us know changes in a your qualifications, you are helping us, and ultimately your chances of finding a match.

BCS and BCSC hire qualified people who have a background in information technology, engineering, finance/accounting, human resources, and general business and place them on assignment at various customer sites. BCS'/BCSC's focus is to create competitive employment opportunities for people with disabilities. We have a lease-to-hire arrangement with our customers. This means that an individual who is hired by BCS/BCSC, after receiving a formal offer of employment, would be an employee of our company for approximately a 6 to 12 month time-period, depending on the terms established by BCS'/BCSC's customer. Employees of BCS/BCSC receive a competitive salary and benefits package, with no premium contribution by the employee. After the completion of the defined time-period, approximately, and based on the employee's performance and other factors, the expectation is that employees of BCS or BCSC will be offered and accept full-time employment with the customer.
