Bender Consulting Services, Inc. Honors Computer Sciences Corporation President, Russ Owen with the Tony Coelho Award for his Commitment to Employ People with Disabilities
PITTSBURGH, PA--On Thursday, December 6, 2001, Bender Consulting Services, Inc. (BCS), a Pittsburgh-based information technology consulting firm gave the First-Annual Tony Coelho Award to Russ Owen, President of the Chemical Group of Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) at the Dupont Country Club in Delaware.
The award was named after the Honorable Tony Coelho, author of the Americans with Disabilities Act, which was signed in July 1990 by President George H.W. Bush. This award will be presented annually to a CEO, President, or government leader who has demonstrated a significant commitment to employ people with disabilities in competitive positions, and worked to influence other business and/or government leaders. This award is to honor the work of Tony Coelho, the author of the Americans with Disabilities Act - a true civil rights leader for people with disabilities.
Russ Owen and CSC have exemplified promoting employment and empowerment of people with disabilities on a daily basis during its partnership with BCS. In his remarks after receiving the award, Mr. Owen said, "I look forward to the day when awards are not given for employing people with disabilities.
Rather, I hope that soon the practice will become a natural part of business, because it is the right thing to do."
Joyce Bender, President and CEO of BCS conceived the award. BCS is an information technology consulting firm that hires computer professionals with disabilities.
